Sustainability As Legacy

Sustainability As Legacy!

Our future and that of our children and grandchildren is being created by the very decisions we make today. If that sounds like a pretty big responsibility rest assured that it is also a golden opportunity!

With the consequences of our choices we can leave a legacy for the future, and what bigger legacy could there be than that of sustainability? Although 'sustainability' is a much used (and often misused) word with a shifting definition, it essentially means that by definition something going to last long into the future.

The alternative is simple; making a mess, safe in the knowledge we won’t be here to clean it up. Not a great legacy to leave....

It’s the paradox of having the technology and intelligence to build incredible homes that create their own energy (and also give back to the grid), while willfully ignoring the consequences of burning fossil fuels at an ever-increasing rate.

And what of Social Sustainability? Consider the paradox of the housing crisis sitting right alongside an epidemic of elder loneliness and lack of great care provision.

We should be creating homes that not only work well for us now but well into the future, providing space and facility for our future selves and future generations. Long term, comfortable well designed homes.

We as individuals have more power than ever before, and not just in terms of what we buy, but also in how we invest in the homes we choose to live in.

It’s all about creating the future through our actions today, that’s our legacy.

Bungalows are packed with potential. They are small and mighty properties with enviable footprints, already large enough to fit all the requirements of a house within one floor. Meaning by the time you have added an extension you could potentially be doubling your living space, depending on the type of extension you choose. Bungalows are becoming increasingly popular extension projects thanks to their generous spaces, large plots and ease of planning. Often dated and left unloved, they are an attractive prospect for buyers and planning departments. Their flexibility offers homeowners the chance to double the size of their home without extending the bungalow into the garden, or affecting their neighbours and creating planning issues. Due to their large footprint, bungalows offer the potential to enlarge your living space by adding floors on top of the existing space, giving you the opportunity to have plenty of room and retain the luxury of a large garden or plot. If you are thinking about converting a bungalow into a family home to be proud of, we can certainly help.
